    EDWARDS NAMED CHAIRMAN/CEO OF AQUAFIBER TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION

    Winter Park, Fla… Recently, Ronald L. Edwards was named Chairman and CEO of AquaFiber Technologies Corporation. Edwards is a shareholder and member of the AquaFiber Technologies Corporation Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Edwards assumed the new role following the retirement of G. Thomas Bland, Jr. The new leadership represents a corporate transition as AquaFiber®™ moves toward commercialization of its dual-nutrient surface water remediation technology, AquaLutions®™.

    “This change in leadership represents a natural transition for AquaFiber®™ as the company focuses on commercialization of AquaLutions®™,” says AquaFiber’s®™ President Kirby Green, “it is a natural evolution as the company grows its capacity to serve its clients, and assists local communities and stakeholders as they address the growing problem of nutrient pollution in Florida’s surface waters."

    Edwards is a native Floridian who has spent over 30 years in the Florida agri-business sector. He has served as President and CEO of Evans Properties, Inc., since 1987. Evans Properties is a family owned agri-business and real estate company based in Vero Beach, FL with cattle and citrus operations in eight Florida counties. He is a graduate of the University of Florida with a major in accounting. Prior to joining Evans, Edwards served in executive management roles at Tropicana Products, Inc. and ConAgra. He has a successful history of investing in start-up and early stage entrepreneurial companies, serving in a director advisory role throughout his career. Edwards was a founding investor and managing member of South Beach Beverage Company (SOBE brand), which was acquired by Pepsi in 2000. He was a founder and a managing member of Blue Buffalo, LLC and remains an investor. Blue Buffalo is a super-premium, nationally distributed pet food company marketing the “Blue” brand. Edwards also currently serves on the Boards of Orlando based LSQ Holdings, LLC and Viewport, LLC.

    BLAND RETIRES FROM AQUAFIBER TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION

    Winter Park, Fla… Recently, G. Thomas Bland, Jr. retired from his role as Chairman and CEO of AquaFiber Technologies Corporation. Bland founded and led AquaFiber®™ and its advances in surface water remediation since the firm’s inception in 2000. At the time of Bland’s retirement, Ron Edwards, a shareholder and member of the AquaFiber®™ Board of Directors and Executive Committee, was named Chairman and CEO of the Company.

    Bland will continue to serve as an AquaFiber®™ Board member, receiving the title of Chairman Emeritus and Founder, as well as remaining a significant shareholder and assisting the company in a consulting role. Bland also serves as a Board member of the Orlando World Trade Organization, and currently serves as the non-salaried Board Chairman of a home healthcare business, TenderCare Professional Assisted Living Services, Inc. that he founded in 1994. Bland will remain active in the Central Florida region as a member of the UCF College of Business Administration’s Dean’s Advisory Council and plans to conduct educational seminars and consult.

    The City of Durham Awards Contract to Cardno ENTRIX for AquaLutions®™ Technology Developed by AquaFiber.
    Raleigh, NC., Feb. 27 — The City of Durham, North Carolina, has awarded Cardno ENTRIX a contract for a Feasibility Evaluation and Pilot Study design of the AquaLutions®™ technology developed by AquaFiber Technologies Corporation. The project will focus on nutrient removal directly from waterbodies within a portion of the Falls Lake Watershed. The study is scheduled to begin in February 2013 and extend through December 2013.

    Tom Bland, chairman and CEO of AquaFiber Technologies Corporation, was recognized for his creativity and contributions to the University of Central Florida at the College of Business Administration's Golden Anniversary celebration Feb. 15.     FORMER WATER OFFICIAL NAMED PRESIDENT OF AQUAFIBER®™

    The former executive director of the St. Johns River Water Management District was named president of Winter Park-based AquaFiber Technologies Corporation.

    Kirby Green III, who has been at the firm for a year, is a member of the company's board and executive committee. He retired from the water management district in October 2011 and was previously secretary of the state Department of Environmental Protection.

    The water pollution removal company was awarded a five-year $2.5 million contract to remove phosphorus from Lake Jesup in Seminole County in 2007. Phosphorous accelerates unwanted plant growth, robbing the lake of its life-giving oxygen. The company also produces algae, which can be used in alternative energy production and soil supplements.
