ABOUT US

AquaFiber was incorporated in March 2000. Our initial thrust was to remediate surface waters using our patented biological process and then use the harvested fibrous periphyton algae biomass to produce molded fiber packaging products. Our business model was focused upon packaging products. The water was secondary.

In 2002 we were awarded a contract from the South Florida Water Management District to investigate the efficacy of our system to remove phosphorus from water. Based on the results of that effort we began to concentrate on technological improvements that would enable us to become a world leader in natural water remediation.

Today we maintain 8 U.S. patents and 10 International patents. We have 20 International patents pending, and have several patent applications in various stages of submittal to the U.S. Patent and Trade Office.

Our Board of Directors and shareholders are leaders in Florida. They are scientists, business leaders and educators.

AquaFiber’s business is based on our ability to create new technologies with significant advantages. We are poised to advance our technological advantages into a bold, new approach to water remediation, and beyond.

As an invited speaker to the American Water Resources Association’s annual meeting in Key West, Fla., AquaFiber’s CEO, Mr. Thomas Bland, spoke on the economically superior business model of “performance based” contracting. This concept, whereby a water remediation firm is paid strictly upon success of their endeavors, had never been successfully attempted in Florida. The speech was met with enthusiasm.
